Evidence for Multiple Phase Transitions in La_1-xCa_xCoO_3

We report thermal-expansion and specific-heat data of the series La_1-xCa_xCoO_3 for 0 <= x <= 0.3. For x = 0 the thermal-expansion coefficient alpha(T) features a pronounced maximum around T = 50 K caused by a temperature-dependent spin-state transition from a low-spin state (S=0) at low temperatures towards a higher spin state of the Co^3+ ions. The partial substitution of the La^3+ ions by divalent Ca^2+ ions causes drastic changes in the macroscopic properties of LaCoO_3. Around x ~ 0.125 the large maximum in alpha(T) has completely vanished. With further increasing x three different anomalies develop

What is virtual and augmented reality? First of all, for a better understating what these two terms mean let me give you a definition. Virtual reality – is a simulated experience that can even be out of this world. When augmented reality is some addons to your life. Examples of virtual reality would be you with the help of technology to go out of this world (basically it has no effect on your real life). Examples of augmented reality can be some devices that would give you the opportunity to effect things in the real world

The automated system of optimization of freight traffic on a transport network is developed which is implemented in the form of the software system using the Borland C++ Builder visual design environment. The software system consists of the main form from which two subroutines are loaded. Using the subroutine “Optimization of routing of transportations” the optimum routes for transporting the cargo are searched on the given transport network using different schemes (from one vertex (the supplier) to all other vertices (the consumers), successively from each vertex to all other vertices, from two (or several) specified vertices to all other vertices). The subroutine “Optimization of transport transportations of cargoes” performs the optimization of transportations of cargoes between the points of supply and consumption, taking into account restrictions on volumes of cargoes in departure and destination points.

Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus is an opportunist that causes systemic infections and dental infections in the human being body. This organism increases its resistance to many categories of antibiotics all day and turn out to be more resistant, and this led to a growing feeling of concern in this era. Given this fact, the aims of this study were to determine the frequency of S. aureus in oral infections and to determine the prevalence of MRSA strains and the sensitivity of isolated S. aureus to antibiotics, in patients who attended dental clinics in major public hospitals and private clinics in the city of Sana'a-Yemen. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted for a year, early in December 2018 and ending in November 2019. The study included 296 patients, 153 male and 143 female, ages 5 to 65, with an average age of 36.2 years. Demographic and clinical data were collected in questionnaire, then pus or oral swabs were collected from patients, cultivated, isolated and identified by standard laboratory techniques. MRSA was ascertained by means of the method of disc diffusion to 1µg of oxicillin disc and 5 µg of methacillin disc; an antimicrobial sensitivity test was carried out by disc diffusion method of selected antibiotics. The oral infections include dental abscesses, periodontal abscesses, gingivitis, periodentitis, dental caries, pulpitis and oral thrush. Results: Of a total of 296 cultured pus and swabs, only 217 produced a positive culture (73.3%). Gram-positive bacteria formed 67.4% of the total isolates where S. aureus was the predominant pathogen (43.1%). The prevalence of MRSA was 23.5%. There was a higher rate of antibiotic resistance tested in MRSA isolates compared to a lower rate of resistance in MSSA as well as 22.2% of MRSA isolates were vancomycin resistant, while only 11.4% of MSSA were vancomycin resistant. Conclusion: It can be concluded, S. aureus was the most widespread isolate in dental infections, high rate of MRSA, the appearance of S. aureus isolates resistant to vancomycin and other broad choice of antibiotics have raised MRSA in oral infections into a multi-drug-resistant, making it more and more hazardous in oral infections. Consistent assessment of oral associated infections and observing the pattern of antibiotic sensitivity and strict drug policy for antibiotics are recommended. Peer Review History: Received 16 April 2020; Revised 2 May; Accepted 12 May, Available online 15 May 2020 Academic Editor:Ahmad Najib, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Makassar, Indonesia, [email protected] UJPR follows the most transparent and toughest ‘Advanced OPEN peer review’ system. Informative EST-SSR markers for genotyping and intraspecific differentiation of Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.

Brassica oleraceae var. capitata L. is characterized by a high level of intraspecific heterogeneity due to some biological features that cause difficulties for breeding creating genetically homogenous forms and maintaining their genetic purity. Microsatellites (SSR) are highly polymorphic markers of plant genomes and represent one of the most effective tools for assessing genetic polymorphism. Among microsatellites, EST-SSR are most interesting, because they are directly linked to the expressed sequences and for that reason are widely used for analysis of genetic diversity and population structure. In this work, we studied the effectiveness of the use of transferable EST-SSR markers for both analyzing white cabbage diversity and genotyping pure lines. As a result, 15 microsatellite loci were characterized for the information content, allelic frequencies and heterogeneity levels. The effective multiallelic markers (Bo20TR, BoDCTD4, BoPC34, BoPLD1, BoCalc, BoPC15) with high information content (PIC > 0.7) that could be successfully used for analysis of inter- and intravarietal polymorphism in B. oleracea var. capitata were identified. It has been shown that intervarietal polymorphism expressed as the allelic diversity of EST SSR loci greatly facilitates varietal identification and typing of individual plants for breeding purposes. Based on the SSR-evaluation and subsequent clustering, the genetic structure of the breeding collection was identified, which showed that most experimental forms, in spite of different origin, have a common ancestral genetic basis. The identified donors of rare alleles could potentially be a source of valuable genetic segregation for further B. oleracea breeding improvement

Strong damping of phononic heat current by magnetic excitations in SrCu_2(BO_3)_2

Measurements of the thermal conductivity as a function of temperature and magnetic field in the 2D dimer spin system SrCu2_2(BO3_3)2_2 are presented. In zero magnetic field the thermal conductivity along and perpendicular to the magnetic planes shows a pronounced double-peak structure as a function of temperature. The low-temperature maximum is drastically suppressed with increasing magnetic field. Our quantitative analysis reveals that the heat current is due to phonons and that the double-peak structure arises from pronounced resonant scattering of phonons by magnetic excitations.Comment: a bit more than 4 pages, 2 figures included; minor changes to improve the clarity of the presentatio
